This is the first cd of the 'tuba' trio Lochs Balthaus Herskedal. Trumpet, piano and tuba. In 2004 I first saw Norwegian Daniel Herskedal when I was in the finals of the International Composition Contest of the Hoeilaert Festival and waiting for the decision of the jury. Daniel played with his band Listen, and I was instantly blown away (almost literally). I lost track of him, but in 2008 I found him back and asked him to come to Holland and play together with my longtime friend and musical companion, pianist Dirk Balthaus. After that we recorded this cd, played at the North sea Jazz Festival, Victoria Club in Oslo and a lot more great gigs. In 2011 we recorded our second cd Choices. That one is still available, the first one only as a digital download.

Bert Lochs is living in The Netherlands. Appraised trumpet player, composer and teacher. He plays in a variety of bands and projects and can be heard on more than 20 cd's. In 2012 international piano legend Enrico Pieranunzi asked him for a concert in Bremen. With his own bands he played at The North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Sendesaal in Bremen and Jazzclub Victoria in Oslo amongst others. ... more
